Your kitchen can have an amazing ambience if you manage to get appliances that fit a particular color motif around it. One of the most popular items in demand today are appliances that come in red. Red appliances come across as striking and eye-catching — studies have actually shown that red carries the strongest reaction of all the colors.

With that said, a red microwave is the perfect fit for a kitchen full of appliances with a similar color. The problem with this? There aren’t a lot of companies that manufacture red microwaves right now; in fact, there are only two reputable brand names that have microwaves in this hue. That would be Emerson and Magic Chef, and today we’re going to review the two products to help you decide which model would be the best fit for your kitchen.

Emerson 900-Watt Red Microwave Oven: Emerson’s red microwave is a favorite among many because of the low price point ($64.99) and how attractive it looks. At first glance, this model looks slick and matches the accents and colors of many people’s kitchen. However, after testing this microwave I found a number of significant problems that most people won’t think about before purchasing it. After further inspection, it also feels cheap because of the material Emerson used to make it. This nifty little microwave also has a very short lifespan, and mine died out after less than a year of relatively light use. Looking at reviews on the Internet, plenty of people have had problems regarding its quality as well. It heats up food nicely, although you might have to deal with uneven heating every now and then because the table tray sometimes fails to spin. And one of the things that REALLY got on my nerves was just how much noise this little clunker makes: the beeping noise it makes after heating can really pierce your eardrums, and the unit also makes a surprisingly large amount of noise when closing the microwave door. After testing this unit, unfortunately I would have to conclude that I am not happy with it and do not recommend it to anyone.

Magic Chef Red Microwave: After doing a little bit more digging, I came across Magic Chef’s version of the red microwave. It’s more expensive than the Emerson unit at $89.99 but I would say paying the extra dollars is definitely worth it! For starters, its bright, shiny color matches most red appliances that people normally have around the home. The unit is also nowhere near as noisy when heating food or closing the microwave door. I’ve only had this for six months but according to reviews on the Internet, Magic Chef’s red microwave has a much, much longer lifespan than the Emerson model. The temperatures are accurate and I’ve found it really hard to burn anything. For instance, I can leave a bag of popcorn in there for 3 minutes as instructed and pop most of the seeds while having zero burnt pieces. I’ve tested a lot of microwaves for this website, and I have to say that this ranks among the top for excellent quality for a good price. I do have one complaint, and that’s the fact that the paint on it seems to be really sensitive. It isn’t difficult to scratch, and its surface must be handled with care at all times.

Aside from that slight problem though, it’s a great appliance that I will most definitely be keeping in my kitchen. If you’re thinking about buying this red microwave oven, consider buying it online since Amazon has it on sale for $74.99 FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY.

Good luck and enjoy your new red microwave!
